On November 18, 2022, The City of Austin City Council appointed Michael Granof to serve a four-year term on the Austin Police Retirement System Board of Trustees beginning in January 2022.

Professor Granof is a professor emeritus with the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas and has spent more than 50 years in academia. He has taught classes on public financial management and has authored numerous publications in the areas of pensions and finance. He served on the Governmental Accounting Standards Board for more than a decade, including the period when new accounting standards for pension systems were adopted and several pronouncements related to investments were issued. Finally, he has served for the past 10 years as the assistant treasurer of the Philosophical Society of Texas, a role in which he was responsible for assisting with the management of the Society’s investment portfolio.
